Electronics
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:56:12 AM »
Does anyone else share my love for digital electronics? :0
I got bored today and made a phonograph out of an old HDD and a cup, and used an Arduino to send the tones to the head, which then vibrates, and makes sound.. the vibrations when sent through the cup, amplifies it a bit and makes it a little clearer.

Oh wow, now that is awesome.

I'm pretty bad at this but I did have a friend whom I helped around with his electronic stuff. He really loved tinkering around. Oh and by 'helping' I mean passing him what he asks for, like solders and stuff :P

I work at a recycling centre and we get lots of electronics. Yesterday we got 5000 laptops and computers from offices that wanted to upgrade and insurance companies, some of them were still boxed brand new! I had to leave them all outside on pallets in the pouring rain because I had no room inside to store them, it nearly broke my heart. I saw two laptops identical to mine too :( All those HDD's and RAM I could have upgraded my PC with. There was this huge server thing with about 15 HDD's inside, it came up to my chest it was enormous.

Next week we get 5000 mobile phones, now I know they're coming I'll be looking for a couple of new ones to claim for myself.
