Arpegi Blog?
« on: May 18, 2013, 02:18:27 PM »
Alright, I have been doubting about this for a long time. But we could start a blog with the Arpegians and use it as URL for eg our Youtube vids or other profiles.

I'm going to use WordPress so that way I can link the account DB of SMF to WP. Then everybody can write and such.

The language on the blog will be English and every Arpegian can write articles. Probably there will be a system to approve posts. Like eg: me & Mizari have to approve a post before it's published.

This way, RPG Maker projects and all that swag can be published too. And with a bit of luck I can link reviews to a forum thread and all that.

So, what do you guys think?

I'm keen on that. I could post the Cynical Bastard videos on that.

I'll probably cross post blogs between this site and my own. How do you plan on linking databases?

Making a bridge between the tables.

Update:

Okay, scrap WordPress. The bridges aren't up-to-date and I don't want to have a security risk by linking tables.

The guys of SMF say that you better go with a portal then linking it to WordPress. So you don't have to wait for a mod update and such. And I see their logic there.

So, a portal... Suggestions? Objections?

I thought you were developing your own bridge. Oh well.

I could, but I think that the table structure from SMF & WordPress are a bit too different for me to pull it off.
I can try.

PHPbb is a better software package for connecting with WordPress. I have seen my favorite magazine do it.

Just do the portal, it really is easier.

Yeah, I agree. It will also make less tables of a different CMS software in the DB. That's better when I need to run SQL commands.

I'd like it if you could fix a blog issue. Everytime I edit, some sort of code appears and bunches everything up together (I'm assuming the code in question is used for breaking up the text), however this problem isn't evident in the forum. I'm sure its an issue that can be fixed.
If you don't know what I mean, I'll provide a screenshot when I get home.

Can you post this in the site bugs thread.
