Rumored Nintendo "Fusion"
« on: January 29, 2014, 02:51:18 AM »
After Nintendo recently admitted that the Wii U was a flop, rumors have spread around about a new Nintendo console being produced called the "Fusion." There have been many inside sources confirming that Nintendo is working on a next gen console with hardware that is actually competitive. Rumor has it that it will be similar to the Wii U in that it has a handheld and console version together, but it will be like the PS Vita/ PS4 in the way that the systems are not actually one.

Your thoughts on this?

My thoughts:
If this is true, Nintendo finally has the right idea. You can still make fun games without completely ignoring your hardware's inferiority. If they do this right, they can surpass the PS4/XBOXONE in power within the next few years. If they make this console as social and online-interactive as their competitors, than that is a plus. Gamers are no longer the 6-7 year olds who beg their parents for birthday games and spend all their time in their rooms playing games without being socially active. Now, many of the gamers are grown and they have friends, and they want to play with them. If Nintendo can successfully create an online network that enables online play and social interaction along with the powerful hardware they have recently lacked, I think they could once again top sales and rule the gaming industry. Oh, and not to forget, having all these will without a doubt attract the 3rd-party developers that Nintendo scared away with the Wii U

In my opinion
I would agree that they can actually compete with PS4 and Xbox, if they do increase their hardware performance. The new generation is all about gaming with great graphics, and Online multiplayer.

Oddly enough, there are rumours that councils will be absolute by the next council generation

I just hope they don't end up like Sega.

Nintendo should go the way of Sega, or just make handhelds. They can still make fun games for other consoles, they are so out of touch it's best they do it before they go bust.

Actually, Nintendo should just bust so that other devs can buy their IPs and actually make good use of them. I'll miss their handhelds though.

Good point. I'm sick of rehashes, somebody else could do more with them.

They're still rumors. It'd be nice to see a high-spec Wii-like console though.

Err, are you sure this is real?

It's a rumor. Nothing has been confirmed or stated by Nintendo itself

They definitely have the money to do something like this. And the supporters. I guess only time will tell

I found this on N4G, and I agree so much!

Quote
Sony loses billions, drops in overall company value, gets their stock downgraded to "junk", closes 1st-party studios, yet all is okay in Playstation land.

Microsoft loses billions on the Xbox brand, loses key executives, closes studios, and rumors fly about the Xbox division closing, yet all is okay in Xbox land.

Nintendo loses 1/3 of a billion, once, one year, still has the highest-selling current-gen platform (3DS), and has a gigantic war chest of cash from the DS/Wii era, yet Nintendo is doomed according to some people.

Stay logical, gamers...

Sony isn't losing billions though.

They lost about $30 million the past year. Pretty close to breaking even.

I think it would be interesting to see what Nintendo would do with a high-spec console. I mean, besides blatant rehashes of their usual IPs, of course...

To be fair, not many people believe Nintendo is "doomed." They are just saying Nintendo needs to come up with something quick before they head down that "doomed" road. SEGA had lots of money and they stopped making hardware long ago. Most people believe Nintendo is moving towards that path, not total destruction

Agreed. Nintendo will always make games even if they fail at the hardware. They have too many money spinning franchises to just give it up. They should do a Sega, they can develop a Mario game on some quality hardware then. Who knows, the game devs might thrive with the extra power available to them.

I don't think they're losing money on making their handhelds though. I just hope they don't make another worthless successor to the Wii. Big consoles don't seem to be a thing they can keep up with.

Yeah, I like a lot of DS games. The 3DS is a waste of time though, I hear most people don't even use the 3D, it was just another gimmick to sell.

Thats why I bought a 2DS. 3DS has lots of good games and many more will still come out. Their problem is the Wii U.

It has good games just that theres no real purpose of a 3ds when theres a 2ds when most people dont even use the 3d. (I dont use it cause it hurts my eyes e-e)

Yeah. The only reason I bought a 3DS is because the 2DS doesn't have hinges.
