My first ever console is the Xbox 360 and I only got that when I moved to the US 4 years ago.
As such, I never got to play the supposed "milestone games" of the SNES.
Now that I'm able to, I wanna track down and play some of the greats of the SNES era.

I've already played these:

FFI - VI
Chrono Trigger
A Link to the Past
Aladdin
Breath of Fire I
Breath of Fire II

What other classics from the SNES should I play?

Alrighty then, heheh:

Earthbound
Super Mario World
F-Zero
Starfox
Kirby's Dreamland 3
Kirby's Dreamcourse (If you're into golf games)
Donkey Kong Country 1,2 and 3. (Especially 2)
Gradius III
Parodius if you want a sillier Gradius
The first three Megaman X's
Super Castlevania IV
The Secret of Mana
Super Mario RPG
Super Metroid
Pocky and Rocky if you want Touhou before Touhou was a thing. (It's a really underrated gem)

And if I remember any more I'll post it here.

Edit: Just remembered two more amazing games:
Gunstar Heroes and Wild Guns.
These two are some of the best games of their genre.

  • Megaman X (1 to 3, I think)
  • Super Mario All Stars
  • Star Fox
  • Contra III - The Alien Wars
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Super Metroid

Those are the ones I've played and wholeheartedly recommend.

(I'm gonna keep my eyes on this thread as well. Gonna play some SNES games yeah.)

I also posted this topic on another site but since they kinda don't like pirating, I kinda danced around the fact that I'm mostly gonna pirate these games and they only recommended things that are easier to get.

Since most of us came here from RomU, I'm hoping this doesn't apply here, so recommend away before I set off on the high seas! :)

I assume you're playing it on a PC via certain methods. If that's the case, then you can connect you Xbox 360 controller to your PC and play with it.

That's the plan.

And if all else fails, I'm not averse to playing it on a keyboard.

I'm sure it will work, I'm doing the same thing. Just let us know if there's an issue.

If you're using a laptop, you can hook it up to your TV via an HMDI cable for big screen gaming.

Gunstar Heroes
That wasn't on the SNES. It was a Genesis (Mega Drive) game.

Kirby Super Star
Darius Twin
Earth Defense Force
Seiken Densetsu 3
Front Mission: Gun Hazard

If you can read Japanese, then there's the Fire Emblem games and the Nintendo Wars (precursor to Advance Wars) games. Also Secret of Mana I and II has the best co op in the entire SNES library, so get a friend for that. You can play it on your own with CPU controlled allies, but co op is so much better.

Super Mario World

Muddy did :x
Super Mario World is really the only game I remember playing on the SNES... I wonder what the hell ever happened to our SNES, huh.
Best childhood memories there, though. I love my daddy ;w;

I still want to play Sailor Moon: Another Story but I never got the chance to. Had it on an emulator once, never got around to it, and it's long gone now. Sadface.

  • Look, I'm on a Gameboy.
      • My gaming life.
Although some aren't milestone games, I highly recommend these. I did my best to not have duplicates. Also, some I haven't played myself but I listed due to historical value. And I have seen a review on it and know it's good or at least fun.

- Wolfenstein 3D (It's a port of the grand-daddy of all 1st person shooters)
- Indiana Jones - Greatest Adventures. (I had a lot of fun with it.)
- EarthWorm Jim
- TMNT 4
- Mortal Kombat
- Donkey Kong Country
- Lufia I & II (I have a physical copy of Lufia II and believe me. The SNES version is FUN imo)
- Super Smash TV
- ActRaiser
- Harvest Moon
- Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (For the historic value)
- Illusion of Gaia
- Super Punch-Out
- Buster Bro's
- Sim City
- Zombies Ate My Neighbors
- GoofTroop
- Lemmings (You must have experienced the Lemmings games at least once in your life time!)

I hope that helps.
