It's a complicated calculation with how much you earn. I think Miz is better in explaining this for Belgium.

Tax gets higher the more you earn, but it isn't uncommon for people to have a total of 50% taxes on their income.

I work part-time, so I don't earn much and I have to pay 15%

Citizen tax, land tax and car tax ain't a laugh either.

Yeah, in Brazil, we have taxes that get higher the more you earn as well. Also, a bunch of other high as fuck taxes, including taxes on games, which is why that kinda stuff is so damn expensive either.

And don't even get me started on how we get little to no return.

Is peeing in public really allowed in your country?

It's only a crime in cities, your peepee can sprinkle in nature as much as you want.

Well, it's illegal to pee in public places... But ppl still do it in parks and forest. As long as you don't cause any harm to somebody's property or scar somebody, you are fine.

Only if somebody sees.
But you CAN get put on the sex offender list for it.

How does the school system works?

POORLY.
Public schools are chronically underfunded and teachers are generally treated like shit. And if you want to go to college, you either have the money saved up or take out a loan and wind up in debt for like, most of your life? >_>;
The public schools here where I live are okay, but that isn't the case in most big cities afaik.

Lovely place sounds like. I bet it's pretty clean and disease free in your country?

Can't speak for the entirety of New Zealand, but I do know our indigenous people are not fond of England.

Anybody curious about what it's like to live in a "just barely getting out of third-world status" country? Feel free to ask.

That's to be expected from an independent colony

Just a day off like any other, fireworks have become less common due to "safety measures".

On the contrary for me! Fireworks have become more extravagant due to their illegal status!
Also to answer the question, independence day is celebrated with fireworks, barbequesos and AMERICA

well it's rather lively I think. There's like a lot of sh*t about the war and shizzle. But I wouldn't know what people actually do since I completely remove myself from society on these days.
