Need some help with a dilemma.
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:10:56 PM »
Alrighty... All of you guys know that I went through a rough time and was depressed several times in 2012. That should be no news for the people who speak on MSN / Skype from time to time with me.

And some of you know that I was going to recover in September... Trying to relax and recover... And to cheer me up with doing what I do best, being creative.

All was going well, till a moment ago... I got a call of the guys over at my vacation job to ask if I could come and work more, SWEET... More money for MineCon and to invest in new games and such... But here is the catch, I won't be able to recover that much.

So, what do you guys think?

Any troll / non - serious answers WILL meet my delete button~

A little extra money doesn't exactly matter if you're too depressed or too busy to enjoy the things you buy with it. I suggest putting relaxing and recovering ahead of getting some extra money.

Yeah, Illudia said that it would be better in my case to rest & recover. Any other opinions?

You can always get some extra money when you're feeling a little better. Any kind of stress won't make a depression any better.

Unless the money makes you relax and feel better, you should relax instead of going for the money. Health and well-being comes first, games and such, unless the really DO help you relax and recover, come later.

I don't know about you, but the way I recover whenever I get depressed is by occupying my mind and my body through work, exercise and games.

Personally, I'd go for the job. You get money, you get to interact with people, and your mind is focused at the tasks at hand instead of dwelling on your problems. And who knows, you and your work buddies might go out to party from time to time and you might just meet that "fated encounter" everyone is supposed to have in their life.

^dis.  I would save the money for Minecon and/or other events as I find it easier to relax at events of any kind, imo.

Ahh, first world problems, as we call it elsewhere.

It's your option to take the job, right? If working doesn't make you feel any better, don't do it. After a nasty split I managed to procure a number of alternative cashflow options which allowed me to spend my weekdays at the beach fishing while mowing lawns during the weekend for 50 dollars. After a few months I was fine and back to studying.

What's causing the stress, anywho?

School, and an seemingly never ending string of bad events like arguments with good friends, a mother that is checking your every move, a sister that reached puberty, lack of vacation.... That and the recovery time is practically 0.0
