Title: Cooking
Post by: Swagmaster on June 24, 2012, 01:54:52 AM
I don't cook. But I like watching people cook (except on shows, I like actually watching cooking) and I love trying new foods

Anybody else into cooking?

I'm into cooking, so was our new member tharuka8(she's a cook really) but she doesn't log in anymore.

So I'm in a bit of trouble here. I went to the supermarket to find a bargain pack of cheese and being the cheese lover I am, I bought it without hesitation.
Only when I opened the can did I realize its not cheese, its cream.(DAMN YOU ARABIC LABELS! >.>)
So I'm in need of simple recipes that uses cream. Please help.

I'm a great cook, Curries and Chillies are my specialty. Yesterday I experimented and made a vegetable broth using Garlic, Celery, Potatoes, Parsnips, Onions, Spring Onions, Lentils, Mushrooms, Green Beans, Radish , Leeks and Spinach. It was pretty nice but I put a bit too much Cumin in and the taste of it was quite strong.

I can Cook you A Meal

Chop Veggies and Fry and let it simmer is a bit of water for a hour to make it nice and Tender~
then use the Leftover Water to make some Nice Sauce to the Meal, as the Flavor is in the Water now~
and Rest is a Secret~

and I can easily make all kinds of Desserts if I were to have the tools, Such as Blueberry Pie or Raisin Cookies

I know how to cook, but only out of necessity because I live alone. I usually just stick to recipes, but with simpler recipes I sometimes switch around some of the ingredients to suit my tastes better.

I still haven't received any cream using recipe.

How about using the cream in a sauce or dip? After that you can just make some pasta or something and put the sauce on it.

edit: grammar fix

The one thing I can't do is a soft boiled egg. I can never ever get it just right, I've tried all the different methods on the internet. My mrs makes them easy but when I copy either the white is still runny or the yolk has gone a bit hard. I'm useless with eggs tbh, I suck at omelettes too.

I love cooking. Especially when I'm cooking the family recipes. I don't experiment much though, I tend to follow recipes to the letter until I memorize it, and only then will I start to modify and dabble on changing it.

Buy a recipe book, preferably of something you like. For me it's curries all the way. You can't go far wrong with step by step instructions.

Oh yes, I don't pay for things if I can find it free on the net. Except games of course, I always pay for my games, honest. :)
The best tips come from home made recipes handed down though I've found, my grandma used to make the best roast spuds and cow pies I've ever tasted in my life and my auntie makes amazing quiche.

Look on youtube for a program called "hairy bikers". It's a cooking show with 2 hairy blokes that go around the country trying peoples home made stuff.

Hmm... if you have eggs, onions, and green peppers you could make a frittata.
If you have some potatoes, mayonnaise, and cheese, you could make a meaty potato salad.
If you have some pasta, white cream sauce, and some asparagus, you could use it to top the pasta.
