Title: Member Spotlight #24 - devon
Post by: TyranBrûlée on January 17, 2014, 01:55:31 AM
Hello! I have been entrusted to the making of this thread. (http://puu.sh/6nwyV.png)
He may be -7 years old but if you think that's going to stop him from getting a Member Spotlight thread, you'd be wrong! Here's to this week's Arpegian in the spotlight, the prominent intellectual elitist, sir devon.

This is a game where we choose a member to spotlight which could then be asked any question by any member!

Here are the rules:

1. If the member chosen doesn't want to answer a question he/she can freely ignore it

2. If you want to put all the questions you have in one post don't write walls of text (but lets face it, you're gonna do that anyway)

3. Members may not request for more time on the MS, you are allotted a single week (7 days exactly, hours may not be exact in certain situations) and no more, no less. If you feel as though you may not be able to fulfill this commitment then please refuse the MS (if it is offered to you) so that another member with sufficient time can fulfill the obligation. (This is non-applicable to MSR)

4. In a dire event such as the death of a relative or a sudden holiday (announced by your parents or something) comes around, then you may postpone the MS to a later date. However the next MS will continue upon your departure, upon your return the current MS will close. You will use up your remaining allotted time, then close and the other MS will then continue for its allotted time. This is only in serious cases, excuses such as exams are not valid. This is to keep consistency within the MS system. (This is non-applicable to MSR)

5. Follow the Arpegi rules please.

6. When the MS holder answers a question put forth by a member, the member, nor anyone else should reply to that answer with a casual remark (non-question), replying to an answer may only be allowed if the reply contains another question for the MS holder to answer. However quote nesting is also prohibited.

7. Pointless questions such as "see you tomorrow?" or "how are you?" are prohibited. Such casual questions can be posed in the Spam thread thread.

8. Violations of rules 6 and 7 will result in a deletion of said posts. If the behavior persists from said individual, then a warning may be issued.

9. Do not ask the same question that a previous member has asked, if it asked in a different way then it may be acceptable so long as it doesn't provoke the same answer as the previous version.

Finally? I only asked a few days ago.

Views on me?
I don't know, I looked at your last 25 posts and I didn't really see anything that stood out. The quotes that you gave in that quote thread wasn't terrible, so there's that.

How did you come to know our busy admins? Did you know them before in the days of RomU and get an invite to come here, or was it a private invite based off private reasons? What is your favorite thing about this website?

What are your interest and distastes?

What do you do in an average day?

I wasn't invited. I believe I asked Misery for the address, maybe.
When Jonez or whatever he's calling himself nowadays used to mod Romulation he'd PM me for advice now and again, most of the time it was just "have I made the right decision?" or some other plea for assurance. It couldn't have been easy to send those PMs so I ended up having slightly more respect for him than I had for the other dregs on the forums.
My favorite thing about this website is that it still exists. I've never seen such a small forum survive off the sheer willpower of spamming.

What are your interest and distastes?
Too many of both to really get into that.

What do you do in an average day?
Eat, drink, go to the toilet, work, internet and sleep.

What do you think of the average integrity of an arpegi user? What about other places of the internet you frequent? Do you find most of the content of this forum mostly spamy in nature? What keeps you here if anything?

I've learned to take this forum and its members for what it is, which makes you guys a real interesting case study.
If you want to know the other places I frequent it's RomU, /wooo/ on 420chan and I've lurked TASVideos for the last 10 years.
Yes.
Curiosity. I liken this forum to the Going Merry from One Piece; a ship that should have sunk ages ago but carries on despite itself because of the effort and love from the people sailing on it.

Do you have a job?
I'm a tutor at the local community learning center.

How do you not know much about me. I've been here since the beginning and on RomU for 4yrs?
Details can slip through. I remember the name at least, it's just that I don't remember anything you've said and/or done.

Do you remember me from RomU? The guy who was asking, "what would be the best ps2 emulator to play shadow of the colossus?"
I actually remember that question. Didn't I reply first or second?

Emma Watson is not "Hollywood beautiful", but she's nice to look at in a homely way. Also I get a chub for large foreheads and English accents.
There's not much outside of Potter, but her appearance in This Is The End was a highlight.

Whom do you admire?
Do you think that compliments are a distraction or supportive to further better what you were complemented on?
There are many members who no longer walk within these walls, I myself have come and gone. From those that you know of that no longer frequent here, whom do you think made the most impact as a member? Furthermore, was their departure for the better or worse of the community?

Technology is rapidly evolving and 'out dating' itself. How long do you think it may be before innovation is no longer possible?
Due to the rapid growth of the mobile market and the technology in tablets, it is rumored that these may in fact soon take over council gaming. That being said, there are theories that this current council generation may, in fact, be the last. Based off of what you know, and any material you choose to look through for further information, what are your opinions of alleged rumors?

On a personal level, my uncle.

Do you think that compliments are a distraction or supportive to further better what you were complemented on?
Depends what you're trying to do and what level of focus is needed.

There are many members who no longer walk within these walls, I myself have come and gone. From those that you know of that no longer frequent here, whom do you think made the most impact as a member? Furthermore, was their departure for the better or worse of the community?
I've never understood why people have the need to delete their accounts, especially the need to broadcast it to everyone in a topic. It's like the option to do it incognito is not there when it actually is; PM an admin.

Technology is rapidly evolving and 'out dating' itself. How long do you think it may be before innovation is no longer possible?
Once we start doing things at intergalactic scales.

I don't care.

What are some of your favorite anime?
I haven't watched anime since 2010 so I can't give anything recent.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Kamen no Maid Guy, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan, Dai Mahou Touge, GITS Stand Alone Complex 1 and 2 (english dub), FLCL (english dub), Detroit Metal City, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Excel Saga. I'm probably missing something.

Perfectly happy with life.

Will Arpegi become bigger? What is Arpegi? What are you trying to grow? How is it going to grow? A plant doesn't grow without water.
I don't want to make assumptions because right now I'm thinking you're Misery but I can't/don't keep track of name changes. You have an alright sig though.

Not a day goes by without regrets. Not a day goes by where I wish I could have done something differently. The sign of maturity is the ability to move past it and not dwell on it.

Views on me, Misery then? :P
On a scale from 1 to 10 here's a banana.

Didn't you used to be a dick (in the funny way)? Why you serious now?
Dry humor can come off as grating. A lot of times when I say dick things and make dick moves there's generally something else I'm trying to say, often it's a hint.
Although sometimes I just like being a dick, like when that dude (forgot his name) got mad because I called him a cunt in RomU and he came here to complain. That was great.

So you are basically a teacher? Like myself, in the future. Nice.
What subjects do you teach?
What age group?
I teach community computing to adults who are generally computer-illiterate. I also teach workshops for Photoshop, Web Design, Android use and Powerpoint/Presentation Skills. I generally like teaching the workshops more than my permanent classes.

Any advice for a soon-to-be college student? (Well, I technically am, but I'm doing my high school in a community college)
Take your work seriously, and also take your money seriously. Abstain from drinking or spending copious amounts of money on things that aren't necessary to your study or living. Allow yourself a day off to relax. Allow 1-2 hours on each other day to relax away from study. If there are study groups join them, as that will help you with both studying and socializing. Shop sensibly, and try to save a little money each week. Make sure you're 100% sure you're doing the right major(s) because studying something you'll end up hating is just wasting time.

Views on me(Hetty, nhi_po, LaTyrannia)?
You're okay.

Because you teach Powerpoint skills, what's your views on the competition of PowerPoint? Mainly, Prezi (http://prezi.com/)?
Do your students get some sort of degree at the end of your workshops?

(Man, I'm studying to become a teacher for kids from the age of 5-12. And this is so interesting :D)

I've heard of Prezi, that's it. I'm asked to teach Powerpoint so that's generally where I take it. Besides with that workshop it's more about the oral presentation than anything.
The workshops are generally just weekend deals that students get skills from. The community computing course gets people a certificate at the end.

I used to play Rugby until a knee injury put a stop to that.
The only sportsy thing I do nowadays is complain when my favorite teams suck ass.

I never cared for her acting, even in Zombieland which I loved. Her large forehead doesn't make up for her butter face and massive frog eyes either.
