Title: Member Spotlight #13 - msg
Post by: Mr.PowPow on June 06, 2012, 01:41:07 AM
Well its Pow here to host yet another spectacular Member Spotlight, this time under the spotlight we have Msg, that other British dood who actually has a real woman!
This is a game where we choose a member to spotlight which could then be asked any question by any member!

Here are the rules:

1. If the member chosen doesn't want to answer a question he/she can freely ignore it

2. If you want to put all the questions you have in one post don't write walls of text (but lets face it, you're gonna do that anyway)

3. Members may not request for more time on the MS, you are allotted a single week (7 days exactly, to the hour) and no more, no less. If you feel as though you may not be able to fulfill this commitment then please refuse the MS (if it is offered to you) so that another member with sufficient time can fulfill the obligation. (This is non-applicable to MSR)

4. In a dire event such as the death of a relative or a sudden holiday (announced by your parents or something) comes around, then you may postpone the MS to a later date. However the next MS will continue upon your departure, upon your return the current MS will close. You will use up your remaining allotted time, then close and the other MS will then continue for its allotted time. This is only in serious cases, excuses such as exams are not valid. This is to keep consistency within the MS system. (This is non-applicable to MSR)

5. Follow the Arpegi rules please.

6. When the MS holder answers a question put forth by a member, the member, nor anyone else should reply to that answer with a casual remark (non-question), replying to an answer may only be allowed if the reply contains another question for the MS holder to answer. However quote nesting is also prohibited.

7. Pointless questions such as "see you tomorrow?" or "how are you?" are prohibited. Such casual questions can be posed in the Spam thread thread.

8. Violations of rules 6 and 7 will result in a deletion of said posts. If the behavior persists from said individual, then a warning may be issued.

HTC something.....I think its desire.....im not sure.
I don't see the point in paying twice as much for a phone that does the exact same as the other cheaper one.
Probably Jonez because he's a nice guy, ummmm.... pow is quite witty, I think we would get on ok, and.......maybe shredcore, he's probably the guy I've spoke to most here, even if its mostly him sending me spider pictures.
Meme? Thats something to do with internet stuff isn't it like troll faces and stuff? I don't follow internet trends.

The highlights are great to watch, a full match however is too slow paced to keep me interested.
I cannot stand basketball, I suppose it's better than golf and cricket though.
I don't really like anything sweet, im more of a savoury person. I don't mind the odd bite of a jam donut though if the mrs gets some.
At the minute The Walking Dead, I'm addicted.

Depression most probably.
When I was a nobhead many moons ago my mrs took my daughter away and took my house and £60k and I was left homeless with nothing but a drink problem and nobody would even let me sleep on their sofa. I was depressed too and had all those bad thoughts, but you just have to keep going and work your arse off to get where you want to be. Once you get there, and you will, you will have all the confidence in the world because you will know you won't be beat, no matter what.

Nope I'm from Yorkshire. We say things like yonder, oggin, ey up, and stuff like that. We don't pronounce our H's so when I say I'm from Hull its "ull".

Sharks are awesome. I was watching a program last night where some guy just dives in with the most dangerous sharks with no cage or anything and grabs their fins and stuff, he's got some balls, I wouldn't do that.
I've never been diving, I'd like to one day though, after I've seen the pyramids and a few other things on my list.

It's not something I fancy but Bruce Lee took some footwork from fencing so I know it must be very effective, as a ex boxer I know how important footwork is.

Seeing as you are a FF7 fan (which everyone should be), have you played every FF7 related game? Including spin offs.
Who would win in a fight...
Genesis or Cloud?
Sephiroth or Bahamut SIN?
Weiss or Sephiroth?
Vincent or Barret?

I think it would be good, but I would say that as I'm over 18. The things I can just chat with my friends and stuff, I can't do on here. I have to hold back on the jokes and what I find funny as an experienced adult. But it doesn't bother me really, I don't think most of you could handle my humour, between me and my mates anything goes.

Oh that's easy, the boss in the safe in Nibelheim mansion. You can just go through the game without grinding up to that point but then you get your arse properly kicked.

Sometimes yeah, and sick jokes about child incest and stuff, bearing in mind we all have daughters. It just doesn't matter what we say to each other as it's always a joke and not meant seriously. We're not afraid to get naked or anything for a laugh either, its just random laughs.

I just tried to explain and I can't, I love almost everything about the old FF's, it would be much easier to just explain the few bad parts about each game.
FFX-2 though, the best part is the job system, and even that is crap.

Yeah X got a bit linear but still held up, I do like XII but it doesn't feel like an FF, XIII is just shiiiiiiiite!
I think FF peaked on the playstation, but slightly extends down to 6 on the SNES too. IV and V are good, but just don't make it into that golden era, same with X, it just sits outside.

My favorites are deffinately FFVIII and FFIX but FFIX wins over FFVII because of how they molded new tech with an oldschool feel of medievil times. Although the queen was ugly.... poor Garnet. What was the hardest fight in FFIX?

Hardest fight....... I can't remember names but it was in the very last area before the end of the game, it's been that long I really need to play it through again to the end. When I think about it, it must be over 5 years since I played it through.

Right, I'm off to use shredcores technique, get even more sore, and watch the walking dead, I shall be back in the morrow to answer more questions. I bid you farewell.

No he's a prick.
Some of it, I'm a pretty good cook. I like Man vs Food, Hairy Bikers and a few others.
Yup, I have it about 3 times a week, usually in a curry or something.

Have you read the Squalls Dead theory? If so do you approve of it?
I read it, it's quite interesting but I don't think it's the case, you could basically put something like that into any game/film if you looked hard enough.

I'm not quite sure which parts class as south asia, so I'll just list my favourite 5 asain dishes.
1. Dopiaza. I love tomatoes and onions, a good dopiaza just has so much flavour.
2. Beef Rendang.
3. Karahi. A local shop here does a curry called a Karahi but I've never heard of it before, it's absolutely gorgeous.
4. Rogan Josh. I like tomatoes.
5. Bhuna
It was hard to pick because I like everything, I had some monkfish in some batter as a starter last time I went for an Indian but I can't remember the dishes name. It was delicious.

It depends what game.

Karahi's are actually the cooking pot. And did you know Dopiaza literally means 'two onions'?
Anyway here's another question.

Cats or dogs?
Would you go to the park with your kids?
Anything you regret in your time as a soldier? (You were in the military, right?)

Yeah I knew that, I have a curry cookbook and make my own all the time. Some turn out pretty good.

Cats, no contest
Not in this weather but yeah I do. I prefer big fun though and my daughter prefers swimming.

Title: Re: Member Spotlight #13 - msg

Why Ocarina of Time?
Because it's the most overrated game of all time. Just because it was good back in 1998 doesn't mean it still stands up today and people still have to go mad over it and declare it the best ever, still! There's not one single part of that game that hasn't been bettered, it's not even the best Zelda, nevermind best game ever.

Fanboys will probably say the same now for FFVII, but they're wrong. Sure the graphics have been bettered but that's not important. There hasn't been a game that so perfectly combines every aspect of RPG gaming, gameplay, atmosphere and storytelling since. Gameplay mechanics and technical stuff can always be improved, it's when that magic happens and everything works together so perfectly that a true classic happens.

Yeah exactly, OoT has been bettered. I just wish others could open their eyes and see the truth.
I try to be as fair and honest as I can, with everything. If my favourite series goes shit, I say it's shit, and then argue for the next 5 years with the diehard fanboys.

Played Skyward Sword?
No not yet, my backlog is too big.

Well, I look at each game separate before comparing it to the other games in the series. Fanboys blow up so much stuff... But don't you think that being a fanboy is sometimes good for a series?

No. If fanboys didn't buy everything regardless of quality, the devs would be forced to make great games all the time. We would see new games and innovation like the old days, It's all sequels and remakes now.

Favourite genre of music?
Ooh interesting question. I likes me music.
I like rock and a lot of the sub genres, such as indie, punk etc. I like Oasis, Foo Fighters, Stereophonics, Guns n Roses, My Chemical Romance, basically if it involves guitars I like it. I play acoustic guitar so I absolutely love it when someone breaks down a rock song and does it live and acoustic, just 1 man, like me at home with my guitar.
You should hear me play this, im perfect, except for the singing  ;D

There's a cool acoustic version of the kill by 30 seconds to mars too that I love but I can't be bothered to look for it.

Watching - football. I can watch a game at any pro level and enjoy, I love football. Live games are best because I can watch defensive lines and runs off the ball, im a really big fan of football. I used to play defence until I broke my leg in a game aged 16.
To do myself - Boxing, Ju Jitsu, MMA. I'm a pretty decent boxer to say I never really bothered with it much, I can hold my own against most. Ju jitsu is amazing to learn, I recommend it to anybody just for self defence, Judo too is good. MMA what we do is basically just a scrap on the mats, I love a scrap.

Long story, prop your eyes open with matchsticks.
Hull is the only city in the entire UK where we can't choose our ISP, we are forced to use the one supplier in the city. The service is shite and I'm not exaggerating, we still have phone lines up from the 2nd world war and they expect us to get broadband down it. On top of that we are charged at least double the cost of any other provider just because they can with no competition. The more intelligent amongst us decided to complain the only way that will get through to them, with our wallets. I use a mobile dongle for all my internet and I always will until KC stop their monoploy and outright robbery. It's usually ok but the towers they use can only support decent speeds at a certain amount of users and this is peak time so I just have to wait until later to watch youtube when all the kids go to bed.

Both are candidates that have not yet had an MS, so both are fine choices, yet only one can have it. So I'll leave you to decide which one in the 2 days you have. Also you heard the guy, he wishes to have more life questions, might as well ask em now because it'll be a while before he gets a Redux.

Also, you have been to war? May you share some of your experiences with us?

I dare say I found that slightly amusing xD
Especially since having a family is my life goal :p
So I guess by that you wouldn't ever have any more kids?
I remember you saying you had the potential to be or was a teacher, would you ever consider going back to such a profession?
What is your favorite pass time? Something you always look forward to after a hard days work.

(I do hope just me asking questions isn't becoming tiresome)

Not tiresome at all, I'm a social creature, especially when beer is involed ;)

My mrs wants a child, she's not my daughters mother but we have been together for 6 years and she doesn't have any. I hate the idea but I know full well it's going to happen, we have to get married first though because she's a devoted catholic and I hear they do things properly, kids in wedlock and all that.

Teaching isn't really for me, I f***ing hated doing presentations and stuff, I was going to be a PE teacher and I think I would have dealt with it, but it's certainly not a dream job of mine. My dad pays double teachers wages to his drivers, the only good thing about been a teacher is the feeling of helping klids I feel, there's no actual real benefit in doing it, nobody respects teachers anymore.

Favourite pass time? If its midweek games, definitely. If it's a weekend, socializing. I can "socialize" from friday to wednesday if the beer tokens don't run out :D
It's not about the beer, it's having a laugh with good friends that think in a similar way to yourself.

Thank you for the pictures, for some reason it feels like such a nice place filled with a natural sort of beauty, if only there was no conflict within it.
You said you have traveled around Europe, would you mind listing some (or all if there isn't that many) of the places you went to, maybe throw in some evaluations of the places/things you saw?
How do you think you have grown over the past decade? In terms of moral, emotional and maybe physical if you wanna throw that in xD
Do you value people around you to a large extent, by that I mean are you the type of person who would literally take a bullet for a loved one? Not just the type of person who says that he would but values his own life too much.
If you could change absolutely anything about your life, what would you change?
If you could go back in time and say one thing to your past self, what would it be?

That is very inspirational and I have deep respect for him, even without particularly knowing him. To go through such hardship but continue nonetheless is nothing short of amazing.
Is he one of the men you fought alongside?

Yup, every country except Portugal I think, I even went to the old Yugoslavia. I love Belgium! It's just so laid back, no traffic, lovely people, honestly I would move there today if I could. Poland - rough as arseholes but really nice people if you speak to them. Russia - don't even go there unless you can speak Russian, you'll end up dead and buried in a forest and never be found, my step mother is Russian, from Moscow.

Grown? Not height wise, that's for sure! :P Morally, everything I am, I was an arsehole a decade ago. Emotionally I'm more withdrawn I think, nothing bothers me anymore, I think that comes with experience, like because I crashed a car and nearly killed my bro, it's kinda hard to get excited when someone else crashes. Physically, I'm 2 stone leighter than I was at 18, my dad was a bodybuilder and I started following at 15. I lost a lot of weight to start fighting because 70kg blokes were a foot taller than me and it's impossible to reach them.

My friends and GF are everything to me, I'm as unselfish as a person can be. I have more money than most of my friends so I buy the beers, for all of us. They did it for me too when things weren't going my way. We have a proper friendship built over decades and I know any of us would do anything we could for a mate. Maybe not take a bullet, but you know, the best we can. If someone had a gun they'd all push me to the bloody front because of my training.

I wouldn't change a thing. I value experience good and bad. I've made a lot of mistakes but I won't ever make those mistakes again and I'm just so confident about it, and life in general because I know how to do it now.

Uh.....don't do drugs maybe. The old me would have told me to fuck off and punched me in the face though, so there ya go. Just to point out, I never did hard drugs like heroin or anything, just recreational drugs such as ecstacy, speed, mcat etc and a bit of coke, which is NOT crack for those who don't know.

And here's my mate ramrod: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8192634.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8192634.stm)

He's more my bros mate than mine tbh, but he's stayed at my house. The last time I actually saw him was just before it happened, we were all in cottingham on the piss and when the taxi came back to mine there was 1 too many, so I volunteered to run the 4 mile home. And I beat the taxi ;)

I'm on the computer now so I can do a bit more. I'm sure anybody in Britain remembers this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6285091.stm
Well the kid that died is my best mates best mate from the Royal Marines, we been out on the piss together, he only lived a couple mile away across the bridge. And the bloke that tied the others to the helicopter is one of my very best mates that I've known since school.

Just years and years of experience of watching and playing.

Probably a draw, Sweden always underachieve, or should I say, Ibra is so overrated people think they have a chance.

I've never been to america but New Jersey is near New York isn't it? I'd rather go visit New York and see the sights, but I'd rather live in LA because of the weather.
