Title: Questions to other countries
Post by: NekoJonez on July 01, 2014, 08:54:56 AM
Ever wondered how is it living in another country? If you ever have questions about other countries, ask them. And if you see a question of your country, feel free to reply.

What are your tax rates
It's a complicated calculation with how much you earn. I think Miz is better in explaining this for Belgium.

Tax gets higher the more you earn, but it isn't uncommon for people to have a total of 50% taxes on their income.

I work part-time, so I don't earn much and I have to pay 15%

Citizen tax, land tax and car tax ain't a laugh either.

Yeah, in Brazil, we have taxes that get higher the more you earn as well. Also, a bunch of other high as fuck taxes, including taxes on games, which is why that kinda stuff is so damn expensive either.

And don't even get me started on how we get little to no return.

Is peeing in public really allowed in your country?

It's only a crime in cities, your peepee can sprinkle in nature as much as you want.

Well, it's illegal to pee in public places... But ppl still do it in parks and forest. As long as you don't cause any harm to somebody's property or scar somebody, you are fine.

Only if somebody sees.
But you CAN get put on the sex offender list for it.

How does the school system works?

POORLY.
Public schools are chronically underfunded and teachers are generally treated like shit. And if you want to go to college, you either have the money saved up or take out a loan and wind up in debt for like, most of your life? >_>;
The public schools here where I live are okay, but that isn't the case in most big cities afaik.

Can't speak for the entirety of New Zealand, but I do know our indigenous people are not fond of England.

On the contrary for me! Fireworks have become more extravagant due to their illegal status!
Also to answer the question, independence day is celebrated with fireworks, barbequesos and AMERICA

Well, in here, everyone just kinda chills out for the whole day or something. It's just another holiday, really.

As for the food, we have, from the top of my mind...
-Feijoada
-Pastel
-Brigadeiro & Beijinho

and a lot of other delicious foods that I just recently heard simply don't happen anywhere else in the world. Feel free to google these~

That depends on what you mean by "average."

If you're talking about the average filipino salary, then that's like $1 an hour. And that's for a relatively mid-high level job. Most of the working class in the country live on $.60 an hour.

If you're talking average american salary (which would be about $10-15 per hour), hell, that'd be enough to buy a mansion if you plan right.

That average is disputable but it's not going to buy you a mansion unless you win the lottery or come into some nice cashies lmao You have living costs, emergency funds, and the growing desire of a human heart.

In England most people only get paid minimum wage £6.31($10.83, €7.96) because there are three million(10% if everybody at working age) unemployed that will take the job if nobody else wants if for that money.

Really, in America, it's more about how you spend your money than It is about how much you make. My family does not make a lot, but becuase of our smart spending, many people view us as upper-middle to lower-rich class.

College or university is so damn expensive in USA though. A 3 year bachelor degree here in Belgium costs about 2-3k. Master is 5-10k at most.

US government should fix that asap.

Our colleges do tend to be a lot larger though, therefore require more expenses. Plus scholarships are quite common so most of the time, people don't pay the full tuition rates. I'm going into a $20K college for free because of scholarships

In the UK we can pay up to £9000 a year, and a minimum of £6000 a year, so Belgium is dirt cheap.
"The Browne Review was published on 12 October 2010 and contained proposals to remove the cap on tuition fees. The resulting debate on the proposals sparked protests from students opposed to any rise in tuition fees. Despite these protests the government won a vote in the House of Commons which would result in universities eventually being able to charge students up to £9,000 a year for the annual tuition costs of students. 64 universities announced their intention to charge the full £9,000 allowed by the government from 2012, with the remaining 59 all charging at least £6,000."

Most(private) to all(public) college/university expenses are covered by the government here. University students often get scholarships too.

£9,000 a year

Also $20k is not going to cover everything.. There's lodging, food, books, etc. Most scholarships pay for only the class.
Also, a lot of my friends are paying $20k just for one semester ._. I don't need no fucking big college to get the same basic edumacation I could get somewhere else for a cheaper price.

Title: Re: Questions to other countries

According to Google it's an Irish thing.

"Shawn" is how "John" is pronounced in Irish because they don't have "J" sounds and the closest thing they have is the "sh" sound. Sean is how the name is originally spelled in Irish. So, John turned into Sean and that turned into Shaun/Shawn.
