I am actually really excited by this particular piece of news because I didn't exaggerate this title in any way, it really is a robot designing competition unveiled by the Pentagon.
The Pentagon wants a series of adaptable robots that can go into danger zones and wield a variety of tools and operate vehicles. And to accomplish this they opened up a competition to see who can create a prototype to withstand a series of physical trials, the winner will see their robot produced for actual use and also gain 2 million dollars as a prize. They are also encouraging video game developers to join in, as to increase the diversity of the ideas put into the production of such robots.

This is exciting! Being a conneticut First Robotics Competition (FRC) alumni and an ex VEX robotics captain and playing with LEGO mindstorms in middle school, I love robotics!
