Errr....do you mean cancelled games? o.O "Canned Games" just doesn't make any sense to me.
-
If a project is cancelled through production, then it pretty much doesn't exist in the gaming world. Don't we already have a thread for that? *pointless twin thread incoming!*

Nah, I will merge those posts in here.

Yeah, blame the lazy me.

Wasn't there an Earthbound 64 that got cancelled? I would have loved that.

Yes, I saw it pop up often in retrospectives.

Wait, am I going back in time? I remember posting a reply to that question.
Earthbound 64 was the unofficial name for the original Mother 3, which was remade for the GBA after being cancelled. It's basically the same game but in 2D visuals and lower sound quality.

I didn't even know games came in cans

Infinity Ward doesn't exist anymore.

Eh? I know they fired the founders and a significant amount of left but Infinity Ward still exists.

"Sledgehammer Games" now. The old Infinity Ward is dead because most of the former employees have quit. They made MW3 and it sucks as hard as Black Ops and Black Ops 2. They've never heard about balanced gameplay.
(Why make snipers available if you have no maps with open areas?)

Sledgehammer and IW are two different entities. According to their website, Sledgehammer was formed in 2009, a whole year before IW incident. Sledge was commissioned by Activision to create a third person CoD game but amidst the IW incident, Activision had Sledge cancel/postpone the project and move in to help IW make MW3.
I saw an ad on their site about hiring for a new project. Most probably MW4 or the third person CoD game that I mentioned earlier.
Heck, it might a new CoD series or even a completely new IP.
And you're right on the balancing issues. CoD 4 was awesome but it didn't have all that many content. MW2 delivered content wise, but it's quality and balance was poor. I hated all CoDs after MW2, but I got them nonetheless, hoping "Hey, at least this one will be like CoD 4". Haven't played Blops 2 since I was here in Qatar when it released. (Gaming PC's back in India. Heck, I don't know if it could run it either. Treyarch's PC ports are quite shitty.)
