What are the "must play" SNES games? Help build up my gaming repertoire!

If you're using a laptop, you can hook it up to your TV via an HMDI cable for big screen gaming.

That wasn't on the SNES. It was a Genesis (Mega Drive) game.

If you can read Japanese, then there's the Fire Emblem games and the Nintendo Wars (precursor to Advance Wars) games. Also Secret of Mana I and II has the best co op in the entire SNES library, so get a friend for that. You can play it on your own with CPU controlled allies, but co op is so much better.
