Supposedly, yeah.

However, there is a chance you could get banned just by using a hacked PS3. AFAIK it's still a bit unclear on whether or not Sony can detect hacked PS3s or not. There is a way to unban yourself if that happens, but it's largely luck-based.

This is all info I learned from other forums and friends' experiences, though; I don't go online at all with my PS3.
