Mutation found to cause obesity

(1/4) > >>

Mr.PowPow:
A study preformed on mice had shown that a particular mutation in the genes made mice eat 80% more than they should since the message of "stop eating" was no longer being passed from the brain to the body.
Even though this particular mutation is rare in cases of humans, it could be used  to "open up novel strategies to help the brain control body weight" such as finding a"drug that can stimulate BDNF expression".
I don't know about you but I think this is quite a big step in the right direction, this could help many people who are on their way to obesity.

Nice find. Although I'm still of the opinion that people should have some more discipline. There are tons of people saying they can't help it that they get fat. Yet, the are eating in McDonalds every 2 days and drinking cola all day long.

Indeed, but for the people who have slow metabolisms or any other type of problem that causes them to rapidly (or slowly) gain weight without their consent.....then this -may- be the future answer to their problems.
But for the people who just eat themselves to death, well they are just reaping what they sow.
