I have Mugen. I've been recently developing it. You can get the main game, but you need to find some tutorials in order to add screenpacks, music, characters, stages, etc. But it's worth it. Here's my current progress:

I had MUGEN running a few years ago. I contemplated learning how to create a character but that particular community is crazy volatile and I eventually lost interest.

Mugen Community is fucked up, they're too busy being jerks to help newbies.

I don't think he can be any clearer than that.

Anyway, I used to play around with MUGEN around a year ago, but I didn't have anyone to play against, so it got boring really fast.

What if the project was given new life and it became an arpegi community project, that is, when every one learns it

I'm playing Mugen now. But I'm having a hard time finding characters I want and characters that AREN'T Overpowered or underpowered.

The only game I can think of that even perfected this formula or type of game was Smash Brothers

Mugen is pretty much straightforward, but it's just that you need to do some digging up in order to find what you need. Especially characters.

Seriously. I had to search for 4 Zeros just to get it right. And I still haven't. First one was awesome, but needs to be waaaay too precise in input to execute his best attacks. The second one was utter bullcrap. The third was too overpowered. One hit and he won't be damaged for 5 fricking seconds. He even has an easily accessible technique to heal himself. The fourth was almost right, but doing a combo with him is difficult. There's a tiny lag between attacks, giving the enemy a chance to guard.

Don't let me get talking about some of the crappy unbalanced user-made AI. Some of it is too difficult and some too weak... so yeah

...And currently, I have 5 characters considered to be sub-bosses and 1-2 final boss-like characters. That's currently half of my roster.

Anyway, the game's still good. I can be a two-inch sub-boss and beat the crap out of bigger characters. :P

True dat.

And that, as far as I'm concerned is the hardest part. Its always a hyper-powered characters who have 1 hit KO attacks.
Anyone know how to turn off the 'Spacebar'='refill health' function?

Post by: BloodcatNS on May 06, 2012, 08:25:22 AM
...There was a spacebar = HP refill function? Holy crap. Must try that someday.

Yep, spacebar and F1 to F(somthing); each have different functions.

I'm a stagemaker for Mugen. I won't work on any 1.0 stages until Hi-Def is more commonly used. So if you guys have WinMugen Plus or know how to convert to 1.0, then you'll get full enjoyment out of my stuff.

This is how I see 1.0

*New Mugen advertises HD resolution*
*People still use 640 x 480*
*..........*

You'll see my stuff around under the name 'Saiyajin Mui'. Admittedly, I'm a little slack in releases lately. I should get back to more frequent releases.

That's pretty much the problem with mugen.Since most of the chars are made by fans, unlike fighting games made by companies some characters are nearly undistructable while others can't even stand itself against a worm.(srsly Omega can like heal himself over and over again and kirby and metaknight gets blown in seconds unless you start butten mashing)

Your character select spaces tends to depend on the screenpack used.

I frequent these places for characters. I just use my own stages but you can get some there too.
