There is this room right, that nullifies 99.99% of all sound. How cool is that?

That is indeed the scariest and most interesting room in the universe.

Murderer: WHY ARN'T YOU SCREAMING?!

I'd love it. I can zone out so far that all I hear is what I make up in my head. I would survive for hours.
-
Challange accepted, I wanne stay in for longer than anyone ever has.
-
This is scary that wed ever even made this
-
I could stay in that indefinitely, I would love it. At home all I get is noise, it drives me mad when I just want to chill out and read a book or something.

It says that silence is torturous too though
-
Oh no way, spend a week in my house and you too would love silence. Just 3 minutes ago I thought the world had ended but it just turned out to be a nosebleed.

Indeed, its easy to say that you would enjoy it (though I think msg is just doing a little bit of banter :p) but when you really think about what absolute silence is, its nothing like you can imagine. What you perceive silence to be in daily life is completely different to what "silence" is. Humans are not used to it so it would drive a normal human to insanity within a short space of time, apparently the only thing you can actually hear are internal noises, such as your heart beat and bodily movements, that would be extremely distressing when you think about it.

Nah, if people go deaf they don't go mad.
-
Nah, if people go deaf they don't go mad.
Of course, because they adjust to it. They realize that there is no coming out of that condition so they accept that it will be like that until the day they die, so they don't go into any form of psychosis. However some do suffer long term depression, but not distress or anxiety since those are short term feelings.
But when you are in a room like that, you know very well that you can escape, you still have the hearing ability, you just seemingly cannot access. So going deaf and going into this room are two completely different things from a psychological point of view. Its all about the short term loss of the ability to hear, its distressing no matter what way you look at it, even if you know you will be able to hear again.

I think I wouldn't be too bothered tbh, I would probably find it weird but I'd know full well pretty soon some guys gonna come let me out. I'm really not one to panic.
I saw my mate step into the road, get hit by one car, come down on the other side and get hit by another and dragged along for about 30m. I just walked over, once I saw he was alive I cleared his mouth so he could breathe and put him into the recovery position, as taught in the army, I didn't bat an eyelid. When I heard my dad had been paralysed in an accident it didn't bother me really either. I always say panicking won't change a thing so calm down, just think of your options and pick what you think is best.
EDIT: I just thought, maybe that's why I look so young, I'm 33 and still get asked for ID for beer. No wrinkles or worry lines are ever gonna be on my face :D
-
We are the oposite.... kind of. I dont let outside things worry me but I worry about my friends. Thats it, otherwise im calm about many things. In maturety, for an 18 yearold, im told to have a maturity higher then I should have, like late 30's... I dont know if thats good or bad.
-
I'm a bit like you msg, I don't panic at all.
Just like last year on Pukkelpop, we saw people with a missing arm or a pole through their shoulderblade.. My friends were all freaking out but I wasn't really bothered by it. While they ran off to not see it again, I looked if I could help anyone..

i would definitely go insane in that room. living in the city my whole life has made me like noise and cant even stand going to sleep without my tv on.
