post your favorite retro game and say why you love it =3
-
Survival Kids GB(C) - Neat little title like "Lost in the Blue"
-
I love Tetris, man I used to play Tetris for hours and hours....something about fitting blocks together was just really gripping O.o
-
Pokemon RED/BLUE c; Those games were my youth!
-
Pokemon RED/BLUE c; Those games were my youth!
I totally agree, the age of gameboy is long lost but still in my heart. Pokemon forever D:

Just like, Pokemon, c'mon! I grew up with it.

Just like, Pokemon, c'mon! I grew up with it.
I grew up with a combination of Final fantasy and Pokemon, thus my orgasmic need to make everything turn based xD
-
I'll make a list!
- Quest 64 | Nintendo 64 | RPG |
- Chrono Trigger | SNES | RPG |
- Earthbound | SNES | RPG |
- The Theatre | PC | Educational |
- Mario Paint | SNES | Drawing/Music Tool |
- Mario's Picross | GB | Puzzle |
- Xena: Warrior Princess | GBC | Action/Adventure |
- Riven: The Sequel to Myst | PC | Adventure |
There are more, but I can't think of any more at the moment.
Also I love these games for the same reason: They are fun.
Also, do the games in Retro Game Challenge count as retro games?

Pokémon and Fire Emblem.. So characters that die and stay dead are pretty awesome :P
-
Riven: The Sequel to Myst | PC | Adventure |
Ah yes, memories. And a very beautiful game.
-
I grew up on the original Sonic The hedgehog. I also remember asking my dad to beat labyrinth zone because that drowning music always scared me...'>.>
-
Riven: The Sequel to Myst | PC | Adventure |
Ah yes, memories. And a very beautiful game.
Yeah. I would've said Exile but I don't know if that's old enough to be considered retro. I also would have said Myst if it didn't infuriate me to no end to the point that I can't even get off of Myst Island.
-
Riven: The Sequel to Myst | PC | Adventure |[/li][/list]
I would love to see this type of game in todays graphics. It would be legendary.
-
i love need for speed underground 2 because there you had complete liberty of tuning the car as you wanted it to.
-
I started playing NFS after Underground 2 :(
I got:
Most Wanted (loved)
Carbon (liked)
Underground (liked)
Shift (liked)
Hot Pursuit (loved)
But I don't think I'll buy another NFS game unless they come with something really good.
-
i know what you mean.
ive got underground 2, shift, shift2, pro street, undercover.
I feel sad because they changed there subject and now it's not make the car to your style put choose a style and feel bad about it.
The next need for speed that i would buy will be one where you get the option back to make your own car with your own style.
-
Underground 2 was the best NFS game in my honest opinion.

The best NFS game is the one no one has ever had, and will never have.

yes! OMG i feel such a veteran at gaming :P i didnt have NES but my cousin did and i used to sleep at his house to play some 2 player Battletoads. such an impossible game to beat!
-
FFVII. Simply because it is the greatest thing ever created.
Only the visuals have aged and that doesn't affect a story driven RPG imo, the story, pacing, direction are all superb. The music beautifully matches each situation and everything just blends together perfectly.
-
If I had more game time... I need to get into the FF series.
-
I need to get into the FF series.
Yes you do, yes you do~

-
i really liked soul blazer for the snes
i remember having to take ages to beat the game when i was younger, and when i dug it up again to play it only took a few days
-
Contra FTW!
-
Lufia 2. Behind those dated visuals there's a fantastic story/game.
-
Don't know if these count as retro, but I played them during my childhood (I still do now though), so I guess it's good enough.
Legend of Mana and Digimon Digital Card Battle for the PSX. Fucking epic, especially when I played with my friends. A lot of competition went down during those days...
-
madagascar, robot, medal of honor rising sun
-
Anyone played E.V.O.: Search for Eden? It's a good game, well worth emulating.
-
remembered two more
-Parasite Eve 1/2 (PSX)
so good games
-
Contra FTW!
I second that. My fav is Contra 4 and Contra 3.

If you like that, then Dark Cloud is for you. That and the sequel have a similar concept to the "go into dungeon, find thingies, restore town" Soul Blazer town-restoring mechanic.
remembered two more
-Parasite Eve 1/2 (PSX)
so good games
I could've got one of those games on my PS3 after I bought Journey, but opted for flOw instead. :P
Lufia 2. Behind those dated visuals there's a fantastic story/game.
And behind that is a remake that made the game more like a Zelda / Kingdom Hearts hybrid (a few puzzles similar to Zelda, but combat that was more similar to Kingdom Hearts). The storyline changes they made weren't all too great though.
Sonic The Hedgehog :3
Too bad sonic isn't what he used to be...
Sonic Colors is pretty close though.
Maybe Sonic Generations, but I'm not sure. I only heard it was good.
-
I've got to say the first ever game I played was super mario bros.
So I started out with games around NES, SNES and GB/C
So most of the good titles and some unregnonized titles.
My list is too long to put on here :P

Yeah it sucks, the lufia community doesn't like it much.
-
How about Wario guys?
-
I played Warioland I & II & III
And some other spin-offs like the WarioWare's.
-
Streets of Rage was awesome. Me and a friend completed 1 and 2 on co op recently but we both died on the final boss on the 3rd game.

-
Original Soul Caliber
-
Original Soul Caliber
Was it called Soul Edge? I think I have it on PSX.
Anyone here remember Alex Kidd in Miracle World? Amazing game for 1986, it was far superior to Mario in a lot of ways.
-
No. Soul Caliber is actually Soul Edge 2. But I don't think it has related stories
-

I can't believe I didn't play this sooner.
-
Kirby c: cuz he could suck items up XD
I want to have your adopted babies~
-
I have a lot in mind that I could play from my PS1 and PS2.
Sands of Time Trilogy are on the top of the list. I really loved the concept of rewinding time ten seconds before your death. Plus the parkour and stuff. I should DL the HD version, I guess.
-

The original Rayman! Beautiful sprite art!
-
Ocarina of Time, and Link to the Past. Best 3D and 2D LoZ titles respectively, imo.

Wolfenstein. I spent more time looking at the guy's face than I should be looking at the action :|
-
Ocarina of Time, and Link to the Past. Best 3D and 2D LoZ titles respectively, imo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer
There's even a first-person shooter based on the series.
-
I love the very first command and conquer, it's still my favourite of the whole lot. I do prefer Dune 2 though when it comes to RTS games.
You guys should try Super Ninja Boy on the SNES. It's an RPG with a world map and towns etc FF style, but has action type fighting. It's really good.
-
I love the very first command and conquer
Good times.
-
Age Of Empires and Age Of Mythology... Who is with me?
-
Age Of Empires and Age Of Mythology... Who is with me?
I think that was a later stage in my life. I think I was 7 or 8

-

I remember this from somewhere....
-
The greatest game of 1984! This game was my childhood, it's still great fun to play even now.
-
Super Metroid.
Because sequence breaking.
-
Is Tales of Symphonia old enough?
-
I don't think so.
-
D'oh.
The whole classic megaman series is great! (Except for 7 and 8. >.>)
-
D'oh.

Agreed. The X series was pretty good too, except for X6 and X7.
-

I concur fully.
Megaman X has some of the greatest level design ever!
-
Final Fantasy IV-IX. I never played anything after IX, and I didn't like I-III.
-
For me it has to be III-VI. (III was great! And I still haven't played anything above VI)
-
(III was great! And I still haven't played anything above VI)
You need to man, you need to T_T
VII, VIII and IX are total classics. In my opinion the best three.
-
What about the The Legend Of Zelda games?
Or the old Indy / Tomb Raider games
-

Yes! Zelda II: The adventure of Link is so good! *Is 100% serious*
I also like Link's awakening and A link to the past.

Honestly, Zelda II is a bit too hard for my liking.

It is a bit unfair. But nothing that a bit of grinding can't fix!

Well, I did it. >.>

Grinding is awesome, shhhh!

Does Quake 3 qualify? If yes, then Counter Strike too.

It's a bit cryptic as well.

Still fantastic.
-
Front Mission: Gun Hazard

I just started playing the original Pilotwings, it's till pretty good. o.o
-
Thunder Force IV (aka Lightening Force).
The best shmup on Genesis/Mega Drive.
-
Insaniquarium Yes, that game.
-
How about some Quest 64 and Quest: Brian's Journey in here? :3
Quest 64 is for N64, while Brian's Journey is for GB and GBC. They're both the exact same game, except Brian's Journey has more story in the first five minutes than Quest 64 has in its entirety. Playing them both gives the full experience of having the story as well as beautiful visuals and sound.
Some music you can hear near the beginning:

Don't ask why there are shops when there's not even a monetary system in the game... I mean, the only actual shoplike places in the game just give you what you want for free and only give a single thing anyway.
