The Kickstarter project for a (very) long awaited sequel/successor to critically acclaimed RPG title 'Planescape: Torment' has already set the record for being the highest funded Kickstarter project yet, reeling in more than 4 million USD via Kickstarter alone.
The record for the highest crowdsourced game however, is held by 'Star Citizen' (which raised 2.2~ million via kickstarter, but more that 6 million through their main site.)
Initially named 'Project Eternity' (now "Torment: Tides of Numenera"), the sequel/successor for Planescape is being developed and published by "inXile Entertainment", founded by Brian Fargo (Who is well known for his work with "Interplay Studios"; whose work is considered legendary among RPG fans and critics alike).

The Kickstarter lasts only for 3 more hours. Donate now if you're planning to.
Kickstarter is pretty much changing the way commerce flows eh?
EDIT: This also mean classic titles could make a return. Projects which were abandoned because of "lack of funds" could be Kickstarted now. For the gamers, by the gamers :D
