When does a game become retro?
O:\msg:
Always confused me this, retro basically means from the past, so PS2 games should be retro, but most people think they aren't. So what do you guys class as retro?
It's kinda confusing because Persona 4 on PS2 was released in 2008, games such as Gears of war on 360 were released 2 years prior.
Is there some kind of rule you guys use, or a general feeling about what is classed as retro?
Kiss x Miz:
When you get a nostalgia boner when hearing the soundtrack, it's retro.
Swagmaster:
I dont think of retro as a group of games.
I think of it more as a personal classification
Many people I know consider FFVII and the likes as retro (and everything older), while I consider it Super Mario Bros. - Era and the likes
CarolineJohnson:
Let's consider what's considered retro.
I've looked it up on Wikipedia and have gauged what is considered retro, and believe up to the fifth generation of gaming (and all games released in that time frame, barring the ones from the next generation released while the previous generation was still in full swing) is considered retro. We are currently at the seventh generation of gaming.
When the eighth generation of gaming is released, the sixth will be considered retro.
See how I've deducted it?
