Valve has planned on announcing three big things over the course of three days. So far they have announced two:-
Day 1:- Steam OS (http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS)
An operating system based on linux dedicated to gaming and home entertainment. Even though details were provided, it wasn't very clear enough on what it runs on as it kept mentioning the living room and home entertainment. Was Valve moving to the console market?
Day 2:- Steam Machines (http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/)
Steam Machines?! Apparently this is a prototype box which runs Steam OS. But wait, there's more. The OS will be free to the open market, this means that any company/user can make their own console running Steam OS. From what I'm guessing, it's going to be a PC on a budget, which probably means the user could upgrade it as he wills.
Day 3:- Source Engine 2? Valve Phones? HALF LIFE 3?! Steam Controller (http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamController/)
This futuristic looking controller comes with a cheesy name as well. These bad boys come equipped with twin trackpads and a centre touchscreen, alongside a couple of usual gamepad-ish features. At first look one might quickly point out that not having physical joysticks is a disadvantage since it doesn't offer the feedback necessary to calcu-WAIT! It does offer feedback! Beneath the trackpad, there are rumble motors which centre around the point of touch. This gives the player enough feedback to calculate the position of the axes and enables him to play games just as any other controller would. I'm assuming the farther away from the centre you touch, the stronger the vibration.

Pffft, that'll never happen. And besides, the sexy new controller was the third announcement.

Darn it. :P
Well, I have a lot of games on Steam already so yeah~

I'm a bit skeptical on the controller. I think I'll reserve judgement until I've tried out the controller since I have no idea how the feedback feels.
