The sun beat down on the two despite the shade of the large tree beside them. It's been how many days since their lives took a turn. They planned to live on the verses for a while, but it was not a hospitable place as before. One of the two cloaked figures stood out a boy. Young enough to be inexperienced, but old enough to learn. Perhaps, the boy thought, he had already learned too much and too quickly. Beside him was a girl. Golden strands of hair fell by her ear, reaching her chest. The girl's bright blue looked at the boy with much worry, for the boy has been wounded, and he refuses to let her fix the scars.

They haven't eaten yet, so the boy had prepared the game while the girl prepared the utilities needed. The boy looked at the boiled piece of meat, but his thoughts were in other places.

Girl: What's wrong?

Boy: I'm just... thinking... that's all.

Girl: About what?

Boy: About what's next.

The boy's eyes told a tale of tragedy. He had seen so much. Done things too far, he felt. It was only the matter of luck and time turning against him that he would break. The girl was rightfully worried about his condition.

Girl: What are you thinking?

Boy: We rebuild.

Girl: You don't mean...

Boy: We take the others. We build a community.

Girl: That's too risky. They're already programmed to follow "him".

Boy: Then remove the programming. That won't be too hard. If we leave them alone, then they'd have their lives wasted.

The girl removed the piece of meat from the boiler. It was cooked enough, she thought. She placed it in a large leaf and gave it to the boy.

Girl: Can you feed yourself?

Boy: I'll be fine. I caught the game, after all.

Girl: I bet you reopened your wounds. You'll have to let me look into it. It might get infected.

He sighed. The boy fed himself with the piece of meat. His teeth cleaved through the succulent meat like it was butter.

Boy: Not bad.

Girl: You were saying earlier?

Boy: Hmm... I just... don't want them to feel the same things I did, alright? Being "born" alone isn't exactly the best feeling.

The girl sighed.

Girl: I understand. So that's it? We look for the others?

Boy: We look for the others.

There was a long silence between the two. The boy began to blush.

Boy: By the way, did that... kiss... mean anything?

Girl: What kiss?

Boy: You know...

Girl: Oh... that.

The boy waited for an answer. He wasn't exactly sure of what he felt for his partner. Love? Camaraderie? Whatever it was, it was troubling him ever since.

Girl: Nope.

Boy: I- .... wait... what?

Girl: I was worried, alright?

Boy: So... you were worried about me, so you kissed me?

Girl: Hey, the way you looked back then was actually pretty troubling. It's like you were going for your own suicide.

The boy sighed.

Boy: I guess we should leave. Someplace we could rest for a while would be good.

Girl: We have enough money.

As the boy stood up, he winced. The girl was right.

Girl: Careful!

The girl said, holding the boy by the waist and letting his arm rest at her shoulders.

Girl: Your wounds haven't healed completely yet.

Boy: I'm... fine...

Girl: Like hell you are.

The two cloaked figures left.

??: They. Have ruined. EVERYTHING.

The figure laughs manically. Whether it was insane or simply found pleasure in its own misfortune, no one will know.

Pixton: The last non-fiction book I read was Anna's latest volume of the Demeroic Research. And also a book of an old friend of mine. "How is it be a Half Queen." It's a witness account about a Hybrid who's husband is a Full Lord and herself is a Half Queen. Due to a stupid accident and misunderstanding.
