Well, that's exciting! I'm looking forward to this RP...



Question: Will there be any set gods or similar entities? Also, would it possible for one to have the power to steal another's power, essentially increasing his or her own? Note that I'm not going to make something like this even if it's allowed, but I certainly think it'd be a very interesting villain or side-character.


On another note, how many different elements of powers one could have? Is it limited to two, such as fire and water, or could there be many different types of diminutive powers to a single person, such as somebody being able to create a spark, a drop of water, a small breeze and levitate a pebble?


And if it's in a medieval/fantasy setting, would people be able to combine weapon usage with magic? And how interesting would you be in making a medieval/futuristic combination, as in, having a city or two with much advanced technology, or just a general techno/medieval combination for the whole world, if you're not totally opposed to an idea similar to this?

There's nothing stopping groups of people gathering to form their own religion if they really believe that a god or some sort of deity existed. I think I'll make it slightly pre-modern era. Like late 19th century to early 20th. so technology like planes and cars and guns would be possible, but more advanced stuff like TVs and cellphones won't exist yet. (but maybe some other magic based versions of them might.)

As for the elements question it really boils down to your character. As I said, since the orientation and composition of a person's magic circuits is unique, theoretically, there could be a person who could control all the elements. However, do to the Law of Equivalent Exchange, in a real battle he could only control one element per cast, two if he really trained hard enough, three at the most and then his body will start to break down. Of course, this only applies to spells with enough damage to be used in a battle, if micromanaging small phenomena like levitating a pebble or creating a spark or conjuring a water drop, it would be possible to do all these things at once since the strain on the body is less.

Keep in mind that the above examples I gave are the extremes. In a battle there are no such clear cut differences between the weak and the strong. Since each person's magic is unique, of course they would devise strategies and tricks to overcome them in battle or to make use of their own weakness. Say for example, Magician A is a "caster" type magician who can summon down lightning bolts. The spells he uses take around 1-3 seconds to cast depending on strength of the spell. Magician B is a "rise" type magician. (rise refers to magic that affects only the caster's body). The only spell he has turns his skin to a rubber like substance. Of course since rubber doesn't conduct electricity, Magician B would win by simply bounding to Magician A and using the kinetic force of his movement to deliver a powerful punch.

So, in a nutshell...

Magic Circuits - specific skill sets.

Mana - Source of power

What if Magician X has a very much abundant mana. If he would use a very large portion of it, he wouldn't be able to live because he would instead break his circuits. His attack may have happened, but the strain is too much to handle.

Mana does not come from the user, but rather from the environment around him. So a spell large enough to destroy a city would of course, drain the surrounding mana. And yes, this would mean that the rebound of the powerful magic would indeed kill the user, but yes, the spell would have happened.

I'm still trying to work out the physics of magic so any further questions would definitely help me out.

I really like their system for magic. It allows for a wide variety of possible magic, and it ties in nicely with the first law, so that there won't be any OP characters. Of course I plan on adding a few mechanical tweaks to make it a bit more unique.

Anyways, I'll make a thread detailing the physics of magic soon so I'm pretty excited.
