It's basically a total overhaul of the entire battle, stat and most especially the Esper system.
The basics are...

Stats actually do what they were meant to do. Which means Sabin's physical Blitzes are now based on his strength (And not fucking magic power like it was before). And now makes physical characters (i.e. Edgar, Shadow and Cyan) MUCH MUCH more useful.
Espers ARE NOW LOCKED TO SPECIFIC CHARACTERS. Which means that each character has their own semi-unique sets of spells, abilities and powerups. No more teams of four ULTIMA spammers.
The difficulty of the overall game is now balanced overall but still challenging. The devs wanted the most "authentic FFVI experience" which means that even people who have never played FFVI before can enjoy the game without too much difficulty provided they utilize strategy and common sense.

Basically this is what FFVI was meant to be. It really is superb. If you're a fan of FF or just RPGs in general you have to try this.

Hmmm, I may give it a try then. The battle system (which was dull to say the least) in the original FFVI is what brought it down in my opinion, so this should improve my perception of it. Hopefully its more challenging as well. I hate RPGs games that are too easy.
