"First place I did any kind of traveling," Torah said. "My family and I migrated to one of the remote, lonely locations there and built a house. Can't really return there now, since my pa would kill me for leaving this town now that I have the opportunity to get a great job and settle down." He crossed his arms. "Why? Something there you're looking for?"

Melodia idly looked at the staff she held, her eyes tracing through each intricate design carved into it. Something about it was mystical, she could tell, but how it was was a mystery to her.

"I was told of a large-scale disaster that caused an entire race to die out," Torah said. "That's all I was told, though. No specifics." He shrugged a little. "I haven't been up that way in years, though, so I was told in a letter sent by my parents. I would have checked if I was near enough, but by that time I was already far enough that if I went to investigate it would be too late."

"That letter, and every single one since then, was sent by what appeared to be an enchanted carrier bird, though." Torah replied. "It was agreed upon that letters would only be delivered by human hands, unless there were no human hands around to deliver them." His expression grew a bit serious. "Whatever it was that happened, it destroyed the population of an entire village, but those who lived across a small river just outside that village were spared. It's like a targeted mass assassination."

Melodia shivered upon hearing those words. She didn't know exactly what some of it meant, but it sounded really ominous to her. The girl grabbed Nom and went to sit against a tree, covering her ears slightly. Just hearing the words made her dizzy.

"Well," Torah replied. "My parents don't tell me the whole story anyway. That's to be expected. They don't want to worry me." He sighed and pulled Melodia to her feet. "But enough of this. We're scaring the kid."

Melodia shook her head a little. "It makes me dizzy..." she mumbled, still leaning against the tree.

"Okay," Melodia replied, making another poor attempt at getting on the horse by herself, knowing that the sooner she started the less she'd hold them up.

Torah nodded. "Well," He said. "I should be getting back to setting things straight here with the count, so we've probably held each other up long enough. Have fun with whatever you're doing." He began to walk off, looking a bit awkward. He probably wasn't that great with goodbyes.

Askardi helps Melodia on then turns to the distant Torah, "Toooorah! Good luck then!" Then he has his steed move forward

"I'll be back to kick your butt!" Melodia called, a small smile on her face.
Torah stopped to stare in confusion, but quickly waved and turned back around.

After the town is far behind them, Askardi asks Melodia, "So Melodia, whatd you think of your hometown? Your parents shop? How about Torah and the Count?"

"They're all just really great," Melodia replied. "I wish I could've lived there instead of my grandma's smelly old cottage on an island." She played with Nom a little as she spoke. "I could've grew up to be a shopkeeper. And had lots of friends as a kid." The girl sighed a little.

"I don't think it was her fault," Melodia said. "I think that mean guard guy made her do it." She petted Nom a little and kept him from attempting to bite on Askardi's clothes. "It sounded like that's what happened, too."

They soon come pass a small lake. Askardi stops a moment.

"Want to take a break and set up camp? We'll reach the group by noon tomarrow"

Melodia nodded. "Okay.." She said. She stayed quiet for some time before speaking again. "Um... Is there a magic spell that can make a staff fly?" She asked. "I...uh...how do I explain.....uh.....I think I should not ride the horse. My legs are starting to hurt with all the moving. Before, I thought it was from not sleeping in a bed. I guess it's not."
