They let a wounded terrorist die instead of giving him first aid, it was hardly murder, and the guy was trying to kill them.

Quote from: A Royal Marine on another site
"We've known the badman, we've seen the badman, some of us have had him a trigger squeeze from lives saved. But a man in a suit said leave him to live, the man in the suit said we weren't in danger, my oppo the new dad, my oppo the new husband, the young mam with bairn in pram, granny of to the bingo, we've seen the lives lost, the blood on the road on the wall on our kit on our hands, we've cried for them. We've picked the broken bodies off the road, off the wall and off our kit. But the man in the suit said the bad man has human rights to carry out inhuman acts. If you click from safe to rounds the suffering of innocents stops for a while at least, but the man in the suit will send you to jail, because the bad man must be assured he has human rights to carry out inhuman acts. And besides, the man in the suit doesn't see the blood, smell the burning, and you signed over your human rights to the man in the suit and anyway paper doesn't bleed."

If you want a cool T-shirt and also want to donate £5 towards helping wounded Royal Marines buy one of These

I tried signing, but it says that I must be a citizen of U.K or at least live in the U.K.

Do you want me to sign anyway, msg?
Nah it's ok, no point breaking the rules. If anyone from the UK wants to sign though I would be very grateful.

Yep, but when it comes to signing stuff, I try to stay away from it. I'm a neutral bystander that observes from a distance.

The British still follow the Marquis of Queensbury rules. So according to these "rules" not rendering medical aid to a wounded enemy combatant is a crime.

The problem is that the Taliban and company are Franc Tireurs or Partisans not soldiers, they do not wear uniforms or distinct insignias, they dress just like the general population, those rules need not apply to them. Legally Franc Tireurs can be shot on the spot, even with the changes made in the Geneva Protocols of 1949.

That's debatable, it really depends on what definition of "soldier" you are using. One definition is " An active, loyal, or militant follower of an organization" which totally applies to the followers of the Taliban, causing them to be classed as soldiers.

So its a debatable point, plus you have to take into consideration cross-cultural definitions, what we consider to be something can easily be different depending on culture and sociological factors within that society.

If that'd be true, I could make Arpegi my army and you'd be official soldiers fighting for sponsors.

technically by the definition its possible, words are flexible like that. You can't go around thinking there is one definition that suits all, one universal meaning, it simply doesn't work that way. So the definition I gave you isn't the only one, the trick is figuring out which one to apply and whether the others should be taken into account.

(though I highly doubt anyone would be loyal in that particular fashion to Arpegi, nor militant :p)

Sorry Pow but this time it's not debatable.
The Geneva Conventions established new protocols, namely, according to Article 4 of the Third Geneva Convention of 1949, francs-tireurs are entitled to prisoner of war status provided that they are commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates, have a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance, carry arms openly, and conduct their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.
They carry no insignias and cannot be distinguished from the public.

"We are obliged to hold that such guerrillas were francs tireurs who, upon capture, could be subjected to the death penalty. Consequently, no criminal responsibility attaches to the defendant List because of the execution of captured partisans."

Well I wasn't arguing that point, just the point you made about the definition of term "soldier", I have no interest in the actual case or the details of such.
It's debatable in the sense that what makes a soldier can be interpreted in different ways depending on the society. Which is indeed a valid sociological point. We cannot rely on westernized viewpoints.

That would be Agent J from the game "Elite Beat Agents" for the DS. One of the crown jewels in the whole DS library.
Seriously, if you have a DS, this should be in your game collection.
