To be fair, nuclear warheads have purely destructive purposes. It's not the flaming shithole and acid and radiation that kills. It's that explosive sudden force that can shatter everything. It's not advanced. It's not even tactical. It's simple and destructive.

well to be fair, People can still survive Nukes if they are say... under collapsed building. or the like, but still die from radiation.

and in that Film the whole thing was supposed to be about Superheroes going and beat some Alien face but instead its LOL NUKE WE WIN FOREWAH - while I'd say a Superhero film's whole point should be the Super heroes Doing something and like...I dunno... BE HEROES!?


and Superheroics
Generally thats something other than simply redirect a Nuclear warhead to an alien military base. EDIT that a Simple Human could do
and more on the like....say. Hulk Smashing Alien Robot Dragons with his fists and saving the day, just to give a small example.

another thing is that the whole Nuke thing Smells and feels like that Generic US Gunwank/Military Wank.
while I'd normally say that "Whatever makes the merrican's happy" but this should be a Superhero movie about Superheroes doing heroics and save the day with their superhuman powers.

I don't think I'm asking for too much if I want them to be beaten via things that are "special" and not just some normal nuke

And superheroics I mean the things the superheroes do

I won't be very happy either if the Invisible monster in Dunwich Horror was not defeated with magic voodoo and instead killed by some farmer's shotgun

And you know
This isn't a Military vs Aliens movie
Its a superhero movie

I don't think its too much for asking the superheroes to be the one that actually mattered in beating the enemy

Yeah, but considering that whoever Fury's talking to wants to destroy the whole island of Manhattan, I really doubt that's possible.

My God, they have a lot of that in Hollywood. You DO realize that's terrible if that was invoked often, right?


And besides, shouldn't it be a good point of somebody from the government or its variant ACTUALLY did something to at least TRY (but fail) and stop the impending alien invasion instead of letting the heroes do the dirty work? It was 6 vs. 1, 000, 000 after all. Success isn't actually in their odds.

S.H.I.E.L.D. already had weapons based on Asgardian Tech. Who knows what was in that nuke if it was fired by a world government. :|

By today's standards, heroes means someone who sacrifices something for the sake of good. Or did a selfless act. Adding the prefix "super-" doesn't really do much. Aside from sounding awesome.

I dunno what Dunwich Horror is, but if that invisible monster was tangible and alive, it might work.

Uhh... Iron Man redirected a missile that was meant to destroy Manhattan. He reused it to destroy that Alien what-ever-the-fuck-that-was. His presence DID matter in beating the enemy. Black Widow closed the portal before the explosion reached the island. It DID matter that she was there. Hulk, Thor, Cap. America and Hawkeye was there not to stop the alien invasion, but to STALL it.



... We're talking about fictional heroes with nonexisting technology and superpowers. Do you guys realize how ridiculous this sounds? Unless of course, you don't wanna call quits on the discussion...

Just because it should be over the top doesn't mean it should be outright ridiculous. If the Hulk always won by being angry, why wouldn't he just be angry all the time? There would be no plot. There would be no obstacle that would somehow impede his progress towards winning.

If Iron Man can just come up with gadgets and donning the suit to win without karma from his past biting him in the ass, there would be no plot.

If it WAS against all odds, then we should know that their weaponry and powers wouldn't be the practical solution for the problem at hand.
