On an unrelated note, it's kind of touching that the whole world's donating after Typhoon Haiyan hit our country. I just hope our government doesn't hoard it. Knowing our current state in politics, I'm afraid that's a bit impossible to hope for.

Countries on the edge of a crisis are still "ethically obliged" to fund countries in a crisis, only to end up in a crisis themselves. It's what happened to Spain, Italy and Greece and probably more quite soon.

An interesting point, but that depends on where the money came from and the actual size of the donation. Right now, I don't really know whether the money we're getting from other countries are mostly government funds or just plain donations.

I'm looking at the current size of the donation. Honestly, it's not enough and probably will never be enough. It's not really as large as you think it is. Converting it to PHP to US Dollars, it's about $23, 809, 523. It's probably going to help the residents get by, but it won't fix anything.

I lost my thought there. My point is, 23 million dollars can't possibly be a source of crisis, can it? Especially when it's split.

Well, government funds are almost all taxes and tariffs. When they are going to run out of money, they'll just raise taxes or bump up the inflation (which also raises taxes) coming ever closer to the next crisis.
