Yeah, Warlock could be used to identify a male witch. But terms like Witch or Wizard just don't have gender restrictions, we can thank the Harry Potter series for misleading the youth of several countries :p

As far as mythologies and stories could tell me, witches were either known for captivating beauty or menacing appearance. And are usually female.

well, I Don't know for Sure, but as far as I know...Christianity was the one that used the Witch in a much larger Scale...like all of the Burning and hanging and decapitating et cetra

but I Belive that the word Witch comes from Further down the history
