does everyone have to be a hero or can they be villains or anti-heroes too?
is there a set plot or is it just a free-roam RP?
Is this "magic" subject to development through repetitive use, like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets. Or does it remain at a constant no matter how much you use it? Keeping in mind that strength and skill are two different things.

You can be whatever you want to be! Baddies are always welcome as they add conflicts in the world and thus add a depth of realism.
Of course, since anyone can be a baddie, any set plot will be thrown into disarray once everyone starts doing their thing. Of course, this doesn't mean you can't collaborate with other would-be baddies to create an organization or make some troubled history with another person if you want.

As for the last one, that's one of the things I'm trying to work out. I'm thinking that since everyone is born with a set number of magic circuits the strength of the "magic" they can use is set. Of course, age and your own biology will impede you from using these all at once. So, any form of training would be a sort of "finding the limits of your strength"

Okay, suppose magician A is able to use fire magic. He is born with 20 Magic circuits (the average number for the average magician). At age 5, due to physical and mental under development, he is only able to use 1/2 a circuit to create a spark. With training, as he reaches 25, he is able to create a 10 feet tall, 6 feet diameter fire pillar by utilizing 2/3 of his magic circuits. If he tries to use any more, the strain would be too much on his body and his magic circuits might actually break.

Consider again, Magician B. He has the same number of magic circuits as Magician A and he is also able to use fire magic. He undergoes the same training as magician A, however, he is unable to create a fire pillar. Instead, he can create a 5 feet tall, 15 feet wide fire wall. This is because even though he has the same number of Magic circuits as Magician A, the orientation of his circuits is different.

Please ask more questions! I'm having trouble setting down some concrete physics in this world. What do you think of the above system? I could do an elastic magic circuit system if that seems more fun.

Well considering that these Magic circuits have a certain biological theme in regards to composition having an effect on use. Would it not be possible to somehow alter the composition through scientific means? Depending on how advanced the world you are creating is.

Also since the magic circuits need mana to work, what exactly is creating the mana? I mean since mana is being consumed by circuits and then replaced with magic, is there an mystical entity or biological organism pumping this stuff out into the air. Like the way a flower produces oxygen?

And the number of magic circuits effects capability, the composition effects the specifics but what determines the type of magic that the person is born with? (e.g element)

I'm still not sure to what era this world will be in. If it was a slightly middle ages/fantasy era, then the only way to increase and modify the magic circuits would be through a forbidden ritual or deity summoning of sorts. This would tie in with the Law of Equivalent Exchange, since those rituals/summoning usually require a great sacrifice on the part of the summoner (either relinquishing of life force or blood offering or accepting a lifelong curse).

If it was a futuristic setting, manipulating your Magic circuitry through operations or experiments would be sort of transplanting an organ that is mismatched with yours. It would work for a while but eventually, the body will reject it like any other mismatched organ.

For the mana problems I was thinking of Yggdrasil. A great tree that provides the earth with all the mana it needs. (this would be supplemented with lesser saplings spread throughout the world). Of course since the world is highly dependent on magic, all countries have agreed that the land Yggdrasil is located to be a non-contested area.

That would still be determined by the magic circuits. Continuing on the above example, Magician C can create the same type wall as magician B, but she can only use water magic due to the orientation of her Magic circuits. Magician D can use both water and fire magic (uncommon but not unheard of) but is only able to fire basketball sized projectiles. The "element" is merely another aspect of the orientation of magic circuits. For example Magician E can create a wall and a pillar similar to Magician A and B, but has no element, these instead created out of solidified mana. Magic circuitry would therefore be a sort of "fingerprint" of a person, unique from person to person.

Well, that's exciting! I'm looking forward to this RP...



Question: Will there be any set gods or similar entities? Also, would it possible for one to have the power to steal another's power, essentially increasing his or her own? Note that I'm not going to make something like this even if it's allowed, but I certainly think it'd be a very interesting villain or side-character.


On another note, how many different elements of powers one could have? Is it limited to two, such as fire and water, or could there be many different types of diminutive powers to a single person, such as somebody being able to create a spark, a drop of water, a small breeze and levitate a pebble?


And if it's in a medieval/fantasy setting, would people be able to combine weapon usage with magic? And how interesting would you be in making a medieval/futuristic combination, as in, having a city or two with much advanced technology, or just a general techno/medieval combination for the whole world, if you're not totally opposed to an idea similar to this?

What if Magician X has a very much abundant mana. If he would use a very large portion of it, he wouldn't be able to live because he would instead break his circuits. His attack may have happened, but the strain is too much to handle.
